INVEST TODAY WITH OUR SHARE OFFER AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY SHOP
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE SET-UP COMMITTEE JAMES LAMBERT
The world has changed a lot in recent weeks! Thank you to all villagers that attended the Information Day in early March. It was great to meet so many of you and to hear your thoughts about the shop.
Due to the Coronavirus situation, work on the shop was delayed slightly but we have made excellent progress in recent weeks. We have opened a bank account, signed an agreement to lease the building from the developers and finalised the Business Plan and Share Scheme Documents. Our next focus will be to recruit a Shop Manager - more information will be made available soon and after that we will be looking for volunteers to assist in the shop. We are planning for the shop to open in September.
Now is the time for our Community to get involved. In order to fit out the shop with shelving, freezers and chillers and to purchase the initial stock, we really need your financial support – which you can easily give by purchasing shares in the Abberton and Langenhoe Community Benefit Society which has been formed to run the Lion Corner Community Shop. We are looking to raise up to £50,000. Shares cost as little as £10 each (although we'd love you to invest more). As a shareholder, you can vote on important decisions in the future.
We will apply for the government's Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme which offers, if granted, 50% tax relief to investors.
The pandemic has highlighted the importance of community spirit and how valuable it would have been to have had a local shop during these challenging times. In order to make the shop a success, and to provide our community with this vital additional facility, we now really do need your financial support – by purchasing shares or making a donation.
Please make OUR shop a success – invest in shares or donate today!
