VISIT BY LORD LIEUTENANT OF ESSEX TO LION CORNER COMMUNITY SHOP ON 30 APRIL 2022

Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst, visited the Lion Corner Community Shop in Abberton and Langenhoe on Saturday 30 April 2022 to meet the volunteers who run it.

Chairman of the Management Committee, Dr Simon Dougherty MBE, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant to the Lion Corner Community Shop to meet the volunteers who so generously give so much of their time to the shop.  We are all very proud of the shop which, in addition to providing a convenient location for villagers and others from the local area to do their shopping, also provides a very important local community hub, thereby reducing loneliness and providing much support to local residents.  We are indebted to the volunteers who work so hard to ensure that we open every day of the week, including Saturdays with a half day on Sundays.”

NEW DEFIBRILLATOR IN ABBERTON & LANGENHOE

Thanks to Abberton and Langenhoe Parish Council for kindly providing a Defibrillator for public use at all times. It has been installed outside the entrance to the Community Shop.

The cabinet has a coded lock to keep it secure. As the Defibrillator has been registered with the East of England Ambulance Service, the code to open the cabinet is available by dialling 999 and asking for Ambulance.  During the opening hours of the Lion Corner Community Shop, the code is also available from the staff in the shop.  The Defibrillator is completely automatic and very easy to use – you just have to follow the clear voice prompts.

This is the second Defibrillator in Abberton & Langenhoe – the other one is located outside Abberton & District Cricket Club at the far end of Fingringhoe Road, Langenhoe.
